Car dealership plan for former Dickinson's Caravans site on Canal Road is approved

THE site of a Caravan sales business that shut last year can now be used by a car dealership after a decision by planning officers.
Long standing business Dickinson Caravans on Canal Road, between Shipley and Bradford, shut its doors last year having operated in the District since the 1970s.
After a year of the site remaining empty, it was announced that D M Keith ltd - which owns the adjacent Skoda dealership, planned to expand onto the site.
A planning application to change the use to a used car dealership was submitted to Bradford Council, and that application has now been approved. ....

Extra £1.6m to improve Bradford's most polluting buses

A £1.6 MILLION grant could help upgrade the 100 buses in Bradford that currently do not meet clean air standards.
Bus companies providing services in the Bradford District are being invited to apply for grants to make their vehicles cleaner and produce less pollution.
It is part of a major effort to tackle Bradford s illegal levels of air pollution.
The Clean Air Bus Fund will provide £1.632m worth of grants to help businesses meet Clean Air Zone standards ahead of its launch in the district in January.
The CAZ will see the most polluting vehicles, including older buses, HGVs, vans and taxis, charged a daily fee to enter the City Centre, the Canal Road Corridor and parts of Shipley. ....

Plan that sets out 'future growth locations' for Bradford is approved


A SCHEME that will see Holme Wood and Apperley Bridge become “future growth locations” has been approved.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s “Spatial Priority Areas” were agreed at a meeting yesterday, and the two areas of Bradford have been classed as areas where there could be large housing developments, or the creation of large scale employment developments.
The Canal Road Corridor is classed as an “Investment Location” - a site where future housing and employment development should be encouraged and Shipley and Keighley area areas that will be targeted for regeneration.
Bradford is classed as a “main urban centre” while Leeds is referred to as the region’s “core city.” ....
