View Comments SAN ANGELO The San Angelo ISD school board gained a fresh face and another female voice after Lupita Arroyo raised her right hand and took her oath of office Monday. There to cheer her on were friends and family, which included Arroyo s husband and two daughters. The newest school board trustee, Arroyo represents Single Member District 2, which includes Belaire Elementary, Bradford Elementary, and San Jacinto Elementary. While Arroyo was officially elected on May 1, she was the only candidate who filed to run for the position in February. On Monday, May 17, 2021, Arroyo took her seat on the school board replacing Art Hernandez, who made the decision to retire after 15 years of service. ....

SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo ISD teachers, staff, and administrators gathered the evening of Thursday, April 28th at the San Angelo Stadium for a district-wide, outdoor celebration of the accomplishments of the 2020-2021 school year, and honored staff for their service and contributions to the district. “We are so proud of each and every one of our San Angelo ISD team members that enabled us to open our doors on time for our students in August and remain open throughout this unique school year,” said Dr. Carl Dethloff, Superintendent of SAISD during the ceremony. “Our classrooms and schools remained one of the safest places in our city during the pandemic, and we emerged stronger than before due to the efforts of these outstanding educators.
