SAN ANGELO — The San Angelo ISD school board gained a fresh face and another female voice after Lupita Arroyo raised her right hand and took her oath of office Monday. There to cheer her on were friends and family, which included Arroyo's husband and two daughters.
The newest school board trustee, Arroyo represents Single Member District 2, which includes Belaire Elementary, Bradford Elementary, and San Jacinto Elementary.
While Arroyo was officially elected on May 1, she was the only candidate who filed to run for the position in February.
On Monday, May 17, 2021, Arroyo took her seat on the school board replacing Art Hernandez, who made the decision to retire after 15 years of service.
