Bokaro: A speeding truck killed two people on National Highway-23 (Bokaro-Ranchi) on Thursday morning. A bicycle rider and a person riding a scooty were hit by a truck near Bari-Cooperative intersection under City Police station. Following the incident, locals blocked the NH demanding installation of a speed breaker at the spot to avoid such incidents. The agitators kept the bodies on the road and blocked traffic for about two hours. It was only after SDO Chas Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, DSP City Kuldeep Chaudhary and MLA Biranchi Narayan came to the spot and assured possible help that the blockade was lifted. The MLA held the meeting with the officers on the spot and talked to the officials of NHAI over the phone demanding installation of the breakers at the intersection. ....
Bokaro: BJP’s Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan on Saturday accused chief minister Hemant Soren of being biased in the allotment of vaccines to the saffron party-dominated pockets and wrote to him, urging him to send at least 40,00 doses for Bokaro without any further delay. Speaking to reporters here, Narayan said, “The state government is very selective in providing vaccines to constituencies ruled by the BJP. The government is allotting more vaccines to the assembly constituencies ruled by the JMM, even if the requirement there is low, but the vaccine allotment to the BJP-dominated pockets has been deliberately reduced.” He added that after Ranchi, Bokaro has the highest number of registrations for vaccination but only a few doses have been allocated to the district. “Bokaro is one of the five most populated districts of Jharkhand. This is an injustice to the people here,” he said. ....

Bokaro: In addition to sending to three tankers of oxygen cylinders, the Bokaro district health department has also sent five ventilator beds to Ranchi after the Covid-19 situation turned alarming at the state capital. District civil surgeon Dr A K Pathak said, Five ventilator beds have been sent to Ranchi on the direction of state government.” The move sending of ventilator beds, however, is criticised by residents and political leaders, including local BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan, as Bokaro is among the three severely hit districts of the state. Criticising the district administration s move, Narayan said Bokaro has not been utilising the beds to treat patients from the district. He has also written to DC Rajesh Singh for effective utilisation of beds. ....
