Demond Meeks speaks out after arrest at eviction in Rochester NY

Assemblyman Demond Meeks issued a critique of city officials overnight and a plea for change after his arrest at the forced eviction of a local mother of three.
We are in the middle of a pandemic . and we are evicting people from their household, Meeks said in an early morning video statement posted on Facebook. That is absolutely inhumane. We are better than that.
Meeks and as many as 14 others were arrested Friday night at 57 Glasgow St. in the Corn Hill neighborhood.
People had been protesting there throughout the day to block the eviction of Clianda Florence-Yarde. Meeks had gone to the residence after receiving a text message, alerting him to City Court Judge Michael Lopez s order that had set a two-hour deadline for police to arrest Florence-Yarde and anyone preventing the eviction. ....
