Shelton native Ryan Meyer is releasing his second book of poetry, but the young writer admits that poetry wasn’t something he always had an interest in, though he did know he wanted to be a writer.
“I started writing in high school but I really started getting into poetry in college, when I took a creative writing course that was a hybrid between fiction and poetry, and the poetry part was a lot more than I expected,” he said. “That’s where I discovered my favorite poets and my favorite poems, and my interest just branched out from there.” ....

In a brutal time for businesses all over the world, I’ve become all too familiar with the pang of sadness that inevitably comes with the news that one of my favorite bars or restaurants has closed forever.
I was, however, surprised when I found myself feeling bummed out when I heard the news that some electronics stores were closing. Rumors (which have been denied) followed that Fry’s Electronics, a chain of stores around the United States that sells household goods and electronics, was going bankrupt altogether. I’m only 70% sure this isn’t pandemic cabin fever talking, but I’m getting sentimental about Fry’s ....
