Montgomery: In-person help for residents needing assistance with unemployment claims is coming to an end as a new phone appointment system will be established for the new year. The Department of Labor said it is ending in-person service at the Crump Senior Center because of health and safety concerns related to the coronavirus. The last dates for such service will be Monday and Tuesday. Appointments for those days will be available on the ADOL website www.labor.alabama.gov. Claimants can call (800) 361-4524 beginning Sunday after 5 p.m. until midnight on Sundays through Thursday to schedule a call-back for the next day to set up an appointment. OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - Typically, thousands of people line the Mardi Gras parade route in Ocean Springs, clamoring for beads. But in 2021, the sidewalks on Government Street will have plenty of room to walk.
Ocean Springs announced earlier this month that they would cancel their annual Mardi Gras parades.

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - The good times will not be rolling in Ocean Springs in 2021. The board of alderman unanimously voted Wednesday to cancel the two Mardi Gras parades the city usually holds each year.
Not everyone was a fan of the decision, though. Some community members pushed back, pointing out that other events such as Cruisin’ the Coast and the Peter Anderson Festival were permitted. ....

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - As Christmas draws closer, that means Carnival is just around the corner, but the good times might not be rolling in Biloxi.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew “Fofo” Gilich told WLOX News Now he’s “about 80%” sure he will cancel Mardi Gras parades in Biloxi in 2021 due to concerns with spreading COVID-19 in the community.
