NEW ULM The New Ulm City Council approved moving forward with a fixed-route bus service for Brown County.
The city is looking at a fixed-route bus service for residents, employees, visitors and students. The city has partnered with Brown County Heartland Express, the transit service provider that operates demand-response service within New Ulm and all of Brown County.
The fixed-route bus service would run on a set schedule with stops located at major local destinations along a set route through the community.
City Manager Chris Dalton said this was not about approving the specific bus route, but to approve moving forward with it to let Brown County present it to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. ....

Liberians Have Until December 20 to Apply for a Green Card Under the LRIF Program
Thousands of Liberians living lawfully in the United States run the risk of detention and deportation if they do not apply for the Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness program (LRIF) by the December 20 filing deadline.
The LRIF program offers an estimated 10,300 Liberians who have lived in the United States since November 20, 2014 the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.
Most eligible Liberians have held Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) temporary protections given to nationals of certain countries that face ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary and temporary conditions that make returning to the country unsafe. Both forms of relief protect against deportation and provide a work permit. ....
