Queen pays tribute to Dunblane

LONDON, March 17 Britain s Queen Elizabeth II and her daughter Princess Anne visited the Scottish town of Dunblane Sunday where 16 children and their teacher were gunned down last week. They met with staff from the Dunblane primary school and emergency services who were involved in the massacre and its aftermath. The queen laid a wreath outside the Dunblane Primary School where the gunman found his victims. She then visited Stirling Royal Infirmary, where five children and two teachers were still recovering from gunshot wounds. Another three children were recovering in Glasgow s Yorkhill hospital. Earlier Sunday, airports, railway stations, shops and television channels united across Britain for a minute s silence in tribute to the victims of the slaughter. More than 1,000 people attended a memorial service at Dunblane cathedral. The service took on added poignancy as it was held on the same day as Britain s Mother s Day celebration. We h ....

Catherine Helen Grant was born on July 21, 1929 in her granny Grant’s flat at Gallowgate, Aberdeen.
Her parents were James and Katie and their family home was in Invergordon.
James was a butcher and Katie was mum to the couple’s two children, Irene and Williamina Mary, known as Wilma. Wilma was five years older than Irene but the two were close and Irene was devastated by the death of her sister when she was only 34 from complications from diabetes. ....
