Charles D. Drake, 52, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged May 3 with aggravated battery and threatening a public official, both Class 2 felonies, and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. According to court documents, on April 29 Drake allegedly grabbed a woman by the wrist in the parking lot of the U.S. Post Office, 1624 Main St., Alton, struck an Alton Police officer and threatened to take the officer’s gun and shoot them. ....

Alexandria N. Phillips, 19, was charged Jan. 26 with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Jan. 13 Phillips struck a 15-year-old male youth in the head with a baseball bat, causing a laceration that required seven stitches. Bail was set at $40,000. Other recent Madison County charges include: • James R. South, 34, of Bethalto, was charged Jan. 26 with theft under $500 (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on July 17 South took less than $500 in cash from another person.
