President Biden announced that PPP monies would go to businesses with less than 16 employees only, but in the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill, Planned Parenthood will be allowed to receive funds as well as “country clubs, fraternities, sororities and publicly traded internet news organizations.”
Fifty million dollars will be used to fund EPA “environmental justice grants,” a.k.a. a payback to extremist environmental action groups. The bill provides $500 million for “grants to fund activities related to the arts, humanities, libraries and museums, and Native American language preservation.”
Thirty billion dollars is to be appropriated for transit (progressive train fetish) grants, including rail service for Silicon Valley. Can’t Twitter, Facebook, and Google, flush with cash, fund a train on their own? ....

It did not take long after the new administration was sworn in for progressives to call for a return to the “Fairness Doctrine.” Established in 1949, it was introduced as a policy that required holders of broadcast licenses to present news and political issues that were honest, equitable, and balanced.
Broadcasters were required to devote some airtime to discuss controversial subjects of political and public interest and to air contrasting views.
Democrats and Republicans both have taken advantage of the doctrine. Originally aimed at radio stations, it also applied to television. There are arguments both for and against the Fairness Doctrine. Perhaps it would force debate and if applied equally would offer differing views so the public can make their own decisions. ....
