A provision in the coronavirus stimulus bill currently being considered by Congress that would have allocated nearly $150 million toward BART s South Bay extension has been removed after the Senate parliamentarian ruled it is not eligible for inclusion.
The stimulus bill the House passed last week included nearly $1.5 billion in funding for ongoing transit projects, part of a $30 billion allocation for beleaguered public transit agencies.
However, the $141 million in funding for the extension has been withdrawn from the version of the bill being considered in the Senate to comply with the complex rules governing budget reconciliation, a process that will allow the Senate to approve the bill by a simple majority rather than the standard 60-vote threshold. ....

Good news for Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and Sens. Tom Cotton and Marsha Blackburn: The BART expansion congressional Republicans branded as Pelosi s Subway will not be receiving federal funds in the Senate COVID-19 relief bill.
On Tuesday evening, Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hammil sent news outlets a statement announcing that Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough who also nixed the Democrats proposal for a $15 federal minimum wage had ruled that the BART extension into Silicon Valley is a pilot project and, therefore, cannot be included in the package. Democrats had hoped to use budget reconciliation to pass the package with 50 votes and bypass the 60-vote threshold required for new legislation. ....

“The Simpsons” has been renewed for a Season 33 and 34 at Fox.
At the conclusion of Season 34, slated for 2023, the iconic animated sitcom will have produced 757 episodes total. The landmark 700th episode, “Manger Things,” will air on March 21.
