PARKERSBURG An opening reception with textile art demonstrations for “Flora, Fauna and Landscape,” a textile art exhibit at the Parkersburg Art Center, is scheduled for 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday,
Textile artists and teachers from Chile traveled to the United States in August 2019 to exhibit 10 of their art quilts. The trip was sponsored by Bernina Chile to promote a month-long, side gallery exhibit of their work during Quilt National 2019 at The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio. ....

Belpre, Marietta, Fort Frye, Frontier, Warren, Washington and Waterford High Schools are allowing students to have prom this year with some COVID restrictions.
With COVID-19 restrictions relaxing, Belpre, Marietta, Fort Frye, Frontier, Warren, Washington and Waterford high schools will be holding proms this year.
Belpre High School’s prom will be May 1 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Parkersburg Art Center. The advisor of the prom committee is Katie Pence.
Belpre superintendent Jeff Greenley said prom attendants must wear facial coverings everywhere they go. Greenley said the students are thrilled to be having prom this year. ....

Kenneth Gilbert, 78, of Parkersburg, WV died Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Belpre Landing. He was born in Spencer, WV a son of the late Delmer and Marie (Jones) Gilbert.
Kenneth Gilbert was an active artist as well as an art educator in the Parkersburg Area. He taught on the elementary, junior high, senior high and college levels. He also served as the art coordinator for the Wood County School System. Approximately 200 of his former students are professional artist and work all over America.
Other professional achievements include founding and directing the Mountain Trace Folklore Program at Parkersburg High School where he and his students produced three hardbound books, two on West Virginia Heritage and Culture and the other a History of Parkersburg High School. They also produced twenty-five paper bound volumes. He is also the author and Illustrator of the Blennerhassett Sketch Book and the children’s book, Tilly Hen. He was a recipient of a Fu ....
