This holiday season has been extremely busy for the Thunder and Devon Energy, but in the best possible way.
The two organizations partnered together to help fill Christmas wishes for foster children across Oklahoma and throw a surprise Thunder-themed pizza party for a group home called Spencer’s House.
Working alongside Citizens Caring for Children, an organization that serves as a resource center for foster families to ensure their basic needs are met, employees from Devon and the Thunder filled hundreds of wish lists created by families for Christmas. In an effort to follow COVID-19 precautions, the employees of both organizations received Amazon wish lists and began their online Christmas shopping in late-November. In doing so, they were able to give in a tremendous way.
On the challenges of the first regular season game…
It’s the same challenges we had in preseason which is how much can we learn from the experiences we ve had as a team so far, and how much can we carry over an identity and a style of play that we ve tried to establish. I think that we ve had moments in the preseason where that s been really good on both ends of the floor and then obviously there s just the natural slippage of a 48-minute game. But the best teams can maintain that level of play over the course of as many of the 48 minutes as possible. That ll be our first challenge on Wednesday and then our continuous challenge through all the games of the season.

Training camp and the preseason came and went in a span of 18 days, with three exhibition tune-ups in place to prepare for the 2020-21 regular season. Before the Thunder moves forward to games that will count in the standings with Wednesday’s regular season-opener in Houston against the Rockets, it will look at some of the key factors on display during the preseason. The Thunder went 1-2 and were able to develop some early chemistry on a roster full of new players as it continued to layer in game settings on top of each day’s work in practice.
