Man arraigned on murder charges after woman's body was found in the snow

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. Charges have been issued against a man in the murder of a woman whose body was found in the snow yesterday. 
According to a press release, around 1 p.m. Nashville Police and Barry County Sheriff s Office were notified of a possible assault/murder at or near a residence on Guy Road in Maple Grove Township. 
A deceased female body was located and covered in snow in the area. 
It is alleged that a Nashville man, Andrew John-Lafey, beat and shot the female victim, whose name is being withheld at this time.  ....

CO Jared Ferguson was in northern Dickinson County when he was waved down by a civilian in a motor vehicle.  The citizen was concerned over a bear that he thought was sick and needed to be put down. CO Ferguson explained that the bear was lethargic because his hibernation was interrupted, most likely due to the logging operation taking place. CO Ferguson advised him to leave the bear alone and it will find a new place to sleep the winter away.
CO Josh Boudreaux was patrolling northwestern Marquette County when he encountered some hunters set up over large bait piles. The pair admitted they knew they had way too much bait out, which was exceeding 10 gallons each. Violations such as riding double on an ORV, no helmet on ORV, no hunting license on person, no hunter orange in blind, and no name on blind were addressed and citations were issued for litter, cutting shooting lanes on state land, and exceeding the bait limit.  ....

A puppy (not this particular puppy) led a Michigan DNR officer to an out-of-state hunter who was illegally taking deer.

BARRY COUNTY, MI - A curious puppy led a Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer to an out-of-state hunter who allegedly took two deer illegally, according to a law enforcement report.
Conservation Officer Richard Cardenas was in Barry County recently when he saw an ORV with what appeared to be two hunters taking a deer back to a home. He pulled into the home’s driveway. While he waited to talk to the hunters, Cardenas said he saw a puppy walk into a pole barn on the property and come back out carrying a deer leg in its mouth, the report said. ....
