CO Jared Ferguson was in northern Dickinson County when he was waved down by a civilian in a motor vehicle. The citizen was concerned over a bear that he thought was sick and needed to be put down. CO Ferguson explained that the bear was lethargic because his hibernation was interrupted, most likely due to the logging operation taking place. CO Ferguson advised him to leave the bear alone and it will find a new place to sleep the winter away.

Violations such as riding double on an ORV, no helmet on ORV, no hunting license on person, no hunter orange in blind, and no name on blind were addressed and citations were issued for litter, cutting shooting lanes on state land, and exceeding the bait limit.
Puppy Rats Out Illegal Hunter In Barry County
You ve heard the saying that a dog is man s best friend. Sometimes though, that saying comes with a price, especially if you re one who hunts illegally.
Case in point. An out of state hunter allegedly thought he could bypass all of the state of Michigan hunting laws and regulations and take a little side step when it came to hitting the woods for an illegal deer hunt. What the hunter didn t bargain for, was the careful and watchful eye of Conversation Officer Richard Cardenas and a puppy on the property who was hungry for a little venison snack.

BARRY COUNTY, MI - A curious puppy led a Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officer to an out-of-state hunter who allegedly took two deer illegally, according to a law enforcement report.
Conservation Officer Richard Cardenas was in Barry County recently when he saw an ORV with what appeared to be two hunters taking a deer back to a home. He pulled into the home’s driveway. While he waited to talk to the hunters, Cardenas said he saw a puppy walk into a pole barn on the property and come back out carrying a deer leg in its mouth, the report said.
