Regina city council discusses City Centre Core plan, cyclist safety, sidewalk updates

Regina city council addressed a variety of topics during Wednesday afternoon’s meeting.
Bike safety, the City’s economic recovery, sidewalk updates and a review process for heritage assessments have all been discussed. Regina city council approved the City Centre Core Partnership Framework and Action Plan.
CITY CENTRE CORE FRAMEWORK
The goal of the City Centre Core Partnership Framework and Action Plan is to connect Evraz Place, the Regina Railyard Project Lands, the Taylor Field Lands with the Regina downtown and Warehouse neighbourhoods.
Delegations from the Regina Exhibition Association, Warehouse Business Improvement District and Downtown Business Improvement District said environmental features will be included in the plan. ....

Over the course of her life, Schmidt, president of Heritage Regina, moved around a lot. Born in Kansas she found herself in Regina around the turn of the millennium. To her it was a great place to live and raise her daughters.

The proposal would see an addition built on the property, transforming the single family dwelling into a 16-unit condo with 24 below ground parking stalls and 10 above ground spots.
Coun. Jason Mancinelli (Ward 9)and Coun. Landon Mohl (Ward 10) were absent for the vote.
Ward 2 Coun. Bob Hawkins was characteristically unflinching in his support for the preservation of the city’s heritage properties.

After being saved from the wrecking ball in the summer, Regina’s Bagshaw Residence appears set for demolition.
On Wednesday city council voted 8-2 in favour of rescinding the property’s heritage status, clearing the way for the home in the Crescents neighbourhood to be destroyed.
