In an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamana , the Shiv Sena on Thursday slammed BJP for creating a fuss over the arrest of Sharjeel Usmani, and advised them to find a way to end the protest at Delhi s borders and send farmers back home to their homes respectfully.
Thousands of farmers have been lying on the roads at the Delhi border for the last 90 days. All those farmers are Hindus. When will you send those farmers back to their home respectfully, the Saamana editorial said.
The article further slammed former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the issue of Sharjeel s arrest, saying that the Maharashtra government knows its responsibility and state police have the courage to pull Usmani out from the end of the earth. ....

Lucknow: In serious trouble for Sharjeel Usmani, a former student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), an FIR under several charges, including sedition, has been registered at Hazratganj Police Station in Uttar Pradesh. The FIR was filed by a local in connection with Usmani’s speech at the Elgar Parishad conclave in January 2021. Sections pertaining to sedition, promotion of enmity between communities, malicious attempt to outrage religious feelings, threatening have been slapped against the ex-AMU student. ....

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) student leader Sharjeel Usmani has been booked by the Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday for “spreading hatred” with his “inflammatory speech” at the recent Elgar Parishad conclave. He has been booked under the various charges of the Indian IT Act.
The complainant, Anurag Singh, in his FIR has mentioned a viral video of Usmani where he has allegedly spread anger against the Yogi Adityanath government. “In this video, such a language has been used that creates hatred and anger towards the Uttar Pradesh government. Apart from hurting religious sentiments, an attempt has been made to spread anarchy in the state by spreading hatred between religion and caste,” Singh said in his complaint filed at the Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow. ....
