KENILWORTH, NJ - Kenilworth historian and Kean University student Michael Naya reflects on the men and women who have served our country and gives details on receiving the Orange Heart Medal.
As summertime approaches, we are looking ahead to celebrating Memorial Day, Independence Day and lastly Labor Day weekend. Despite that I cannot help on reflecting about all of those I have met over the years who served in the Vietnam War. This is especially relevant when on my frequent trip to Acme I recently saw two representatives of VFW Post 2230 distributing Poppy Flowers in honor of those who have given their lives for our nation. One of these men wore a baseball cap embroidered, “Vietnam” with the engineer’s logo on it. After meeting these two individuals I couldn t help but reflect on why these veterans are still often overlooked in our nation today. ....

Art heists are fascinating. Sophisticated thieves, shady buyers, orchestrated burglaries, and the mysterious intrigues of the underworld keep captivating people s imagination. Stealing art isn t a new thing. According to the Guardian, the first recorded art crime was carried out in 1473 by Polish pirates who kidnapped a triptych from a church in Florence and took it to the city of Gdansk, where it still is today.
Yet for some reason there are legendary artworks that have been stolen several times. But when it is notoriously difficult to sell on well-known works even on the black market, who would risk repeatedly targeting such paintings and why? asks journalist Riah Pryor at the Art Newspaper ....
