Govt, Parliament Asked to Finalize National Budget Criticizing the delay in the approval of the current fiscal year’s budget, a number of Kabul residents, most of them from low-income families, called on the government and the parliament to finalize the document and end the stand-off between the two branches of the state. The fiscal year began on December 21, 2020, but so far, the budget draft has not been approved by the parliament. The parliament has rejected the budget draft twice and is reviewing a third reviewed version. “The government needs to amend the budget and remove the shortcomings in the document to secure vote of confidence from the lawmakers,” said Abdul Hamid, a Kabul resident. ....
Security Forces Retreat from Govt Buildings in Behsud: MP A member of the Afghan parliament on Wednesday said that government forces have retreated from the government buildings in Hes-e-Awal Behsud district following recent deadly clashes between security forces and armed men loyal to Abdul Ghani, known as Commander Alipoor, a local commander in Behsud district in Maidan Wardak province. Abdul Rahman Wardak, a member of parliament from Maidan Wardak, said that the security forces retreated from a building in the district after an hour-long clash with Alipoor’s supporters. “The government forces are no longer present in the area, the police commander is now in Hes-e-Awal Behsud,” said Abdul Rahman Wardak, a member of parliament. ....
