Insecurity: Senate to meet with Buhari

The Senate, on Tuesday, resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the security situation in the country occasioned by insurgency, banditry and kidnapping.
The resolution was on the heels of a motion by Senator representing Niger East, Sani Musa.
Senator Musa while presenting his motion recalled the activities of bandits and Boko Haram terrorists in Shiroro, Munya and Rafi Local Government Areas of Niger State which he noted has taken a dangerous dimension.
He noted that almost seven years now his senatorial district has come under constant and sustained multiple deadly attacks by heartless, venomous and hydra-headed Boko Haram terrorists who are always heavily armed with assorted sophisticated and dangerous weapons unleashing their horror on our innocent populace. ....

Elder statesman and former Minister of Health, Prof ABC Nwosu is very optimistic that a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction will emerge in 2023. Killing of soldiers in Benue: 4 arrested, more arms recovered

Following the recent killings of about 12 soldiers in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State by local militias, the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Monday said four suspects have been arrested and more arms have also been recovered.
Ortom who briefed journalists on Monday after an expanded Security Council meeting with stakeholders from Konshisha Local Government Area, said the military during the search operation recovered one AK-47.
He stated that efforts of the Security Council, traditional rulers led by Tor Jechira, Chief Clement Uganden and Ter Ikyor, Chief Jam Gbinde as well as political leaders also led to the recovery of eight AK-47 rifles and one machine gun. ....

Auto crash kills 2 in Ogun - Daily Post Nigeria

Two persons were confirmed dead while one other sustained various degrees of injuries in a road crash that occurred on Monday on the Ijebu Ode-Benin expressway.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta that the accident involved a Toyota Sienna car and a truck.
Akinbiyi explained that the accident which occurred at 11:15 am was caused by the driver of the Sienna car who was on top speed.
He said the driver of the car lost control and hit the loaded stationary truck.
He said a male teenager and a woman who were in the Toyota Sienna marked MUS 264 XV died in the accident while one other person sustained injuries. ....
