Jersey City, NJ - As Jersey City’s business districts prepare for post pandemic recovery, it’s become more important than ever before to focus on the most critical issues that impact small businesses and property owners in our commercial centers, advocates say. For Journal Square, those important quality-of-life issues are addressed head-on by the men and women that serve as Clean Team and Public Safety Ambassadors for the Journal Square Special Improvement District (SID).
“Every day is a new challenge, there’s no limit to the amount of litter and garbage that finds its way to the street, but that’s what we’re here for, we stay on top of it and try to make sure that people have a clean place to do business.” says Antwan Milton, a Clean Team member and local Greenville resident. ....

$10 Million to Be Used to Restore Vital Oakland Community Resources and Programs

On Monday, April 12, the Oakland City Council passed an important resolution introduced by me and Council President Nikki Fortunato Bas. This resolution accepts the American Relief Plan Act (ARPA) Federal funding, creates a transparent budget process, and allocates the $10 million from the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority (OACCA)/Golden State Warriors litigation in the effort to provide a just and equitable recovery for the Oakland community. This legislation restored vital community resources and programs that were cut by the City Administrator in December 2020. ....

Robyne Smith shares her experience as a School Safety Ambassador

She enjoyed her mastery sessions where she learned about deep listening and being attentive to others. In the past, Robyne would interrupt others when they were trying to communicate with her, and she would listen to respond but has since learned to appreciate the power of being fully present and attentive when others are speaking.
People feel a sense of being heard and valued if you look them in the eyes and sincerely listen to what they are saying, explains Robyne.
On 17, 20 and 25 March 2021, 74 School Safety Ambassadors participated in the certification ceremonies for the school safety ambassadors, signaling the end of the programme which commenced on 1 April 2020. ....

Downtown Santa Monica Expands Security Program to Include Specially Trained 'Safety Ambassadors' – NBC Los Angeles

In the event of an active emergency, Safety Ambassadors will remain on site until emergency responders arrive, according to DTSM.
The health and well-being of our community continues to be of paramount importance, said DTSM Inc. CEO Kathleen Rawson. It is Downtown Santa Monica s highest priority to provide a clean, safe and welcoming public environment for our residents, businesses and visitors. Based on feedback from our community, we are expanding our ambassador deployment to further focus on and enhance public safety in the district.
All Safety Ambassadors will be identifiable by unique uniforms and possess a valid Guard Card issued by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service a certification that requires a minimum of 40 hours of state-mandated training and 16 hours per year of continual professional training, according to DTSM officials. Safety Ambassadors will be first-aid and CPR certified within the first 30 days of their employment. ....
