Photo: Brian Ach/Getty Images for Disney The Disneyland community has been rocked by controversy this past week ever since the park unveiled a redesigned version of classic ride Snow White’s Scary Adventure, replacing it with a more technologically advanced version called Snow White’s Enchanted Wish. The problem, though (as laid out by Katie Dowd and Julie Tremaine in a piece for SFGate), is that rather than ending with the dramatic death of the Evil Queen, like in the original version of the ride, it now ends with the Prince kissing the sleeping Snow White as in the non-consensual “true love’s kiss” that only one person involved in is even aware of, a.k.a. the thing that makes the original movie problematic. Unlike the “‘wokeness’ is ruining Disney World” bullshit, it’s sort of like if Disney had replaced Splash Mountain with a second ....
You remember that scene from Titanic when the ship is sinking, everyone is panicking, and the eight-member orchestra decides to continue playing on deck even till they go down with the ship? Over the past few weeks, as a truly (and I can’t believe I’m about to use the word) unprecedented catastrophe has unfurled across India, a set of social-media fiddlers have appeared. A far cry from the brave souls who went down with the Titanic, these Neros aren’t playing beautiful symphonies to calm everyone around them. Instead, they’re demanding you sit quietly as the ship sinks so that they can continue playing and enjoying their own music. ....

It’s a real menace to society, infecting every American ideal with the horrific idea that people should be treated with dignity and respect. Now, “wokeness” is coming from that most hollowed of American grounds: Disney World. Advertisement In an op-ed for the Orlando Sentinel, Las Vegas resident and Florida vacationer Jonathan VanBoserck goes medieval on Disney for, among other things, allowing its performers to express themselves and updating the 30-year-old ride Splash Mountain, a major attraction based on the infamously racist ....

Disney changed how it handles Peter Pan. Will the Disneyland ride be next? FacebookTwitterEmail Peter Pan s Flight at Disneyland, Anaheim, Calif., September 1962.Courtesy of Getty Images News broke this week that Disney Plus had changed the availability of Peter Pan, making it inaccessible on the profiles of children under seven years old. The actual change came months ago as part of a larger decision to keep movies that require a content warning off young children’s profiles, some who may not be able to read those warnings, or understand them without their parents’ help. The movies, which also include The Aristocats and Dumbo, are still fully watchable on Disney Plus on adult profiles. They also feature messages from Disney as a preface, pointing out the “harmful impact” of those problematic depictions and encouraging viewers to “learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.” But the change, as these things te ....
