A gang of five people, of which four are women, allegedly kidnapped a 45-year-old techie and extorted Rs 1.43 crore from her.
Viman Nagar police on Wednesday arrested all five in a illegal money-lending case and produced them before the court. All the accused were sent to police custody till Sunday. This is for the first time that Pune police have taken action against four women under the provisions of the Maharashtra Money-Lending (Regulation) Act, 2014.

Intensifying its action against eateries and restaurants that are not adhering to
COVID prevention protocols, the
Bhawani Peth on Saturday.
The action was taken by
Somnath Bankar, assistant PMC commissioner of Bhawani Peth ward office, along with the inspection squad. “During the time of the surprise inspection, it was found that around 30-40 customers were inside the hotel sitting and eating. Because of this, we penalised them Rs 1 lakh for COVID lockdown rules violation. The hotels have been given time to operate only to provide the delivery service, that too it has to be through the food delivery mobile application and not customers,” said Bankar.
