In a disturbing case of alleged gross negligence by a private hospital in
Bhavani Peth, amid the ongoing pandemic second wave, a 70-yearold woman admitted to the facility after testing positive for COVID-19 has gone missing from the premises four days ago.
Her distressed family members have now held the Hope Hospital completely responsible for her disappearance and filed a complaint with Samarth police station (PS) last Sunday.

Pune: Intensifying in crackdown on the black-marketing of remdesivir injections in Pune, the Crime Branch of city police arrested a medical assistant working at a hospital for selling the vials five times costlier. Officials of the Crime Branch and Food and Drugs Administration booked the accused.
An employee of a private hospital was arrested for allegedly trying to sell a vial of remdesivir injection at an exorbitant price in Maharashtra s Pune city, police said on Wednesday. Based on a tip-off, a decoy customer was sent to Bhavani Peth area on Tuesday and the accused Shivaji Sawant was caught while attempting to sell a vial of remdesivir for Rs 7,000, a senior crime branch official said. Amid shortage of the anti-viral drug, cases of black marketing have been reported, in which the Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune police have already arrested some people in separate cases. The accused works as an assistant in a private hospital and was in possession of two vials, the official said.

All the deceased were contract workers, police said, and added that nine persons were evacuated from the spot.
Manjari facility is where the Covishield vaccine used in the nationwide inoculation drive against the pandemic is made. The building where a fire broke out is one km from the Covishield vaccine manufacturing unit, sources said.

After a social group mooted a proposal to the civic body to take beggars on board, the team has been allotted Bhavani Peth.
In a welcome move, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has roped in beggars and street dwellers to join their garbage cleaning drive. Tagged as the ‘Kharata Paltan’, these financially disadvantaged people will now be a part of PMC’s Swachata team. Civic officials have allocated Bhavani Peth to the newly formed team. With this initiative, the civic body aims to assist the beggars to earn a living and keep the city clean.
