From The Tribune staff reports CENTER POINT The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a pedestrian on Center Point Parkway, on Thursday, May 13, 2021. A 46-year-old man was walking in the 10 block of 24th Avenue NW when he was struck by a vehicle, according to Coroner Bill Yates. The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office said the driver of the vehicle left the scene. The pedestrian was found nearby in the 2400 block of Center Point Parkway. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:08 p.m. Sgt. Joni Money said detectives are gathering information. There are Flock Safety cameras in the area to help with the investigation. ....

Facebook Share Chaos erupted at an east Birmingham apartment complex following a deadly shooting in the parking lot. Birmingham’s 911 center received a call at 8:45 a.m. reporting that someone had been shot. Sgt. Rod Mauldin said there were also reports of gunfire in the area. The shooting happened in the 2900 block of Gallant Drive at Monarch Ridge Apartments, formerly Valley Brook Apartments. When officers arrived at the complex, they found a vehicle that had come to a rest after striking multiple vehicles in the parking lot. Mauldin said when officers looked into the vehicle, they found the victim dead from a gunshot wound. ....
