Chaos erupts following deadly shooting at east Birmingham apartment complex

A man was shot to death Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in the 2900 block of Gallant Drive.

Chaos erupted at an east Birmingham apartment complex following a deadly shooting in the parking lot.
Birmingham’s 911 center received a call at 8:45 a.m. reporting that someone had been shot. Sgt. Rod Mauldin said there were also reports of gunfire in the area.
The shooting happened in the 2900 block of Gallant Drive at Monarch Ridge Apartments, formerly Valley Brook Apartments.
When officers arrived at the complex, they found a vehicle that had come to a rest after striking multiple vehicles in the parking lot. Mauldin said when officers looked into the vehicle, they found the victim dead from a gunshot wound. ....
