Veterans Win: U. of Rhode Island Will Not Destroy WWII Murals

The University of Rhode Island (URI) has decided to keep two murals depicting the events of World War II and immediately after. The school had initially planned to remove the murals last year, after students complained they lacked diversity. The university states that it will add “necessary context” to inform students that “the original intent of the murals to depict life on campus at the time they were created.”
“The University’s Senior Leadership Team has decided to uncover and preserve the 1950s-era murals,” URI said in a recent announcement posted to its website. ....

Queen's harassment & discrimination policy in final round of feedback

The University has initiated the final round of feedback on the revised Harassment and Discrimination Policy and Procedure.
The policy and its procedures were initially up for review from Dec. 14 to Jan. 29. The Harassment and Discrimination Policy and Procedure Consultation Working Group and the University’s Senior Leadership Team reviewed this feedback from Feb. 8 to 12.
While the policy was last revised in 2000, Queen’s introduced an interim workplace policy in 2016. The current proposed policy is intended to replace both.
According to Lon Knox, university secretary and chair of the policy working group, the consultation process has been “very successful.” ....

Queen's seeks feedback on harassment & discrimination policy

The University is looking for feedback from the campus community on the policy proposed to deal with harassment and discrimination.
The current policy was last revised in 2000, however, the University introduced an interim policy in 2016. In 2018, the Harassment and Discrimination Policy and Procedure Consultation Working Group was established to create a comprehensive policy.
The consultation process will result in an updated policy outlining what harassment and discrimination is and how it should be dealt with at Queen’s.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â The Florida A&M University Annual Presidentâs Toy Drive set a new record collecting 1,097 gifts, including 90 bicycles, to distribute to Tallahassee youngsters for Christmas.
The donations from 192 individuals surpasses the 700 gifts, including 70 bicycles, donated in 2019.
âI am thankful for the generosity of the administrators, staff, faculty, students, retirees, alumni and community members who stepped up to bring holiday cheer to our area youngsters,â said President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., who greeted donors as they dropped off toys at the Presidentâs House on Dec. 4. ....
