Architecture firm FBW to masterplan Rwanda's University of Global Health Equity expansion


East African planning, design, architecture and engineering team FBW Group has been appointed to masterplan the expansion of the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in Rwanda.
The UGHE development in the Burera district of the country will build on the work of the university in producing much-needed, high-quality health professionals.
And it is latest in a series of large-scale education projects FBW, which is celebrating a quarter of a century of operations in East Africa, has been involved in across the region.
The first phase of the 250-acre Butaro campus was opened by the Partners In Health organisation in 2019. ....

Brianna Ngarambe is a graduate of Purdue University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. During her time at Purdue, she was involved in promoting racial equity through actively recruiting underrepresented minority students to the university and maintaining a strong connection with these individuals as a mentor. While at university, she was Vice President of ACCLAIM, an organization aiming to promote leadership in multicultural and international students. In her role, she hosted panel discussions and prepared events for university staff and students in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Prior to her current role as Administrative Assistant to the Vice Chancellor at the University of Global Health Equity, Brianna worked as Nurse Assistant and Medical Secretary at Roland Assisted Living in South Bend, Indiana. Statement of Purpose –
The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the inequities that have long existed within health and society.  Across the years, many have pointed to the current system and pushed for a more inclusive future. A future that is made more urgent by the current health crisis.  As aspiring medical professionals, we the students of the Geisel School of Medicine, would like to ask, where do we go from here?  What does healing look like for those most marginalized in healthcare?  What can we do so that all of our communities can begin to heal?  How can we remain vigilant as the effects of the pandemic continue? ....

Frontline health care providers around the world have gone too long unrecognised and uncompensated, and only through a global pandemic have their efforts become widely valued as critical not only to physical and mental wellbeing, but the health of our economies and wider sectors.
