Montgomery's chief of staff takes leap into politics


She will announce her candidacy on Monday.
In an interview Sunday, Harris, 28, said the firestorm over a controversial human resources report in 2019 that accused her of harassing the borough manager and a second civil servant influenced her decision to move from behind the scenes to the political stage.
Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante ousted Montgomery from Projet Montréal in January 2020 for refusing to fire Harris without seeing the full report.
In December, Quebec Superior Court sided with Montgomery, saying the city was unreasonable to ask her to fire Harris without her seeing the report or knowing the specifics of the allegations. ....

Evanston highly vaccinates vulnerable populations, forum reveals


In his final community forum, Mayor Steve Hagerty lauded the efforts of Evanston’s Public Health Department and residents’ compliance in fighting COVID-19 at Thursday’s virtual Coronavirus Q&A. 
Hagerty, city officials and volunteers answered questions sent in before the event by members of the community. From the outset Evanston’s mayor said he was proud of how the city handled the virus. 
“Evanston is comparatively doing much better than a lot of our neighbors,” Hagerty said. “There is a lot to be proud of in a very difficult time. In Evanston, we did contact tracing from day one. Our numbers are attributed to that.”  ....
