The Wichita County Commissioners Court passed an incentive plan for the Pamlico Air plant Tuesday. The plant, located in the former Stanley Tool building in the city’s business park, makes air filters. It has already surpassed its promise to employ 200 workers. The county’s incentive package includes abating most taxes the first year and then increasing taxes in increments over the next 10 years. Under law, counties cannot offer abatement on taxes to its sinking funds or road and bridge fund, but county Judge Woody Gossom said that would have little impact on the deal. Also at Tuesday’s meeting, Commissioner Mark Beauchamp said the jail portion of the new Law Enforcement Center has earned a certificate of occupancy from the city of Wichita Falls. ....
Council approves spending $10-million on business park Wichita Falls City Councilors voted Tuesday to authorize spending of $10-million on the city’s business park. The money will be used for upgrades to the park’s roads, water and sewer systems and lighting. Councilors signed off on allowing the Wichita Falls Economic Development Corporation to issue sales tax revenue bonds to pay for the project. Public Works Director Russell Schreiber said the projects will help the park be “shovel ready” for new business prospects. He said the city lost out on two prospects that were interested in Wichita Falls but needed land that was ready for construction to start. ....
Homebound residents to get COVID-19 shots delivered Homebound residents will get COVID-19 shots delivered to their doorsteps with the help of the National Guard and Meals on Wheels program. Lou Kreidler, director of the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Health District, told Wichita Falls City Councilors Tuesday that Texas State Guard members will join with her personnel in delivering vaccines to qualified people who can’t make it to a vaccination location because of their physical conditions. The deliveries started in Burkburnett Wednesday. Kreidler said the district is working with Meals on Wheels and other agencies to identify Wichita County residents who are homebound. Four teams from the state guard will be pressed into service with Kreidler s people and the City of Wichita Falls is providing some of the transportation. ....
