Premium Content Subscriber only A woman has been told she was a “tragedy waiting to happen” after she was caught drink driving just weeks after facing court for a similar offence. Shirley May Williams, 34, pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday to driving over the general alcohol limit without a licence, driving while disqualified by court and driving an unregistered vehicle. On March 28 police from Mount Morgan, near Rockhampton, were patrolling after being alerted to an unlicensed driver who was under the influence of alcohol. At 5pm that afternoon they pulled over a car on Porters Rd at Baree which was being driven by Williams.

Jake Timothy Whiteley pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm. The court heard the victim was at a Caltex petrol station at Agnes Water on April 6 where he was approached by Whiteley while walking back to his car. The pair were known to each other. Whiteley punched the victim to his right eye causing him to fall and sustain bruising and scratches to his elbows and knees as well as a cut and black eye.

Premium Content Subscriber only A man’s weeping in the watch house has been described as “crocodile tears” after the theft of a woman’s handbag in broad daylight added more offences to his 12-page criminal history. Walter Thomas Godfrey, 36, pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday to one count of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence and three counts of fraud. The court heard Godfrey was “loitering” in the carpark of the Hinkler Shopping Centre at midday on Thursday where he saw the victim approach her car. He then walked past her and waited against a wall while the victim unlocked her car and wound down windows to let out hot air.
