My Gonzaga Bulldogs went down in a stunningly flat performance last night to Baylor in the NCAA Men’s College Basketball National Championship. It was a brutal way to end a season for a team that was considered, up until 24 hours ago, perhaps the greatest college basketball team ever.
After 22 years of continuous post-season play, we have just two national championship appearances and no titles. It’s frustrating. But, then I look at the Mariner’s and I remember what real frustration feels like… Thanks for the season, Zags. Let’s play ball, M’s! ....

Data breaches prompt new bill to limit Employment Security Department's SSN disclosure


Recent government data breaches have prompted a new bill in the Legislature aimed at protecting people’s personal information.
House Bill 1455 states that if it is not required by federal or state law, the Employment Security Department (ESD) would need to stop disclosing full social security numbers in written communication with non-governmental third parties. This would have to begin by July 2023.
Non-governmental third parties “excludes subdivisions, agencies, and instrumentalities of government,” according to the bill’s documents.
“Hundreds of thousands of Washington consumers many of our constituents and those we serve, and even our families have had their Washington data breached,” said bill sponsor Rep. Gina Mosbrucker (R-Goldendale). ....

(TNS) Washington state lawmakers are hoping to improve cybersecurity and data sharing within the state government after a fraud attack at the Employment Security Department cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars last year and a breach involving the State Auditor s Office exposed more than 1 million people s personal information.
If passed, the two bills heard in committee Tuesday would boost cybersecurity at state government agencies. A bill requested by Gov. Jay Inslee would create an Office of Cybersecurity to work with state agencies ....
