Funding Now Open For Creative Projects In Kirikiriroa

Creative Waikato is calling for applications from groups
and individuals looking for cash to supercharge their next
creative project.
Hamilton’s Creative Communities
Scheme supports community arts initiatives that help grow
and promote creativity in Kirikiriroa.
Applications
are now open, with the funding round closing at 5pm on
Friday 27 August.
Creative Waikato, which administers
the fund on behalf of Hamilton City Council, is seeking
project applications focussing on at least one of the
scheme’s three criteria - access and participation,
diversity, or young people.

more than 30 local projects received funding - from flax ....

Thought-provoking exhibition releases final round of questions


Participants are asked to write answers for the last 30 questions of the project before August 7.
This month the city will be challenged to think about its future.
The first set of questions focused on the individual, before moving to opinions about the city and people’s memories of Papaiōea.
Virginia Warbrick said the first 120 questions had yielded surprising results from the anonymous participants sharing their feelings about themselves and the city.
More than 1000 responses were returned for the first set of questions and many wrote about their greatest achievements.

We are the Most Beautiful in the Keep New Zealand Beautiful contest, and have put ourselves forward to be the first New Zealand community to be designated a UNESCO City of Design.
We are also the only town in New Zealand to celebrate International Jazz Day - another UNESCO initiative. Perhaps that is why it has been a well-kept secret.
This will be our fourth annual event, last year having been cancelled due to the lockdown.
And what an event it will be, with some 40 musicians from all over the country playing a wide variety of popular music and with many of the musicians performing together for the very first time . because jazz can do that. It adds an excitement that only improvisation can bring. ....
