Oakridger Covenant Health, the parent company of Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, is planning to work with local health departments to provide vaccines to people age 75 and over. That statement came from Covenant Health Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Debbi Honey during a virtual press conference. She said more information would come out that day, Monday, Jan. 11. However, that information had not come out as of late Monday afternoon. The Oak Ridger will publish the information as it becomes available. “People see that there’s hope,” Honey said. “The vaccine is our first hope to get out of this.” ....
Nashville explosion hits MMC phones Donna Smith/The Oak Ridger The bombing in downtown Nashville on Christmas Day continues to have its impact on the Oak Ridge area. AT&T confirmed Sunday that its facility on Second Avenue North near the blast site in Nashville was severely damaged in the explosion, causing widespread wireless and internet outages as well as disrupting 911 access, reported journalists for The Tennessean newspaper. The outages reached from Kentucky to Alabama, and were focused in Middle Tennessee. Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge had phone issues throughout the weekend because of the explosion. Contacted Monday morning, Crystal Jordan, MMC marketing and business development manager, stated in an email: “Due to phone outages in Nashville, some hospitals in our region, including Methodist Medical Center, continue to experience intermittent phone issues depending on the status of Nashville-based phone services and/or the caller’s phone carrier ....
