Man held for killing mother - Newspaper


TAXILA: The Hassanabdal police on Saturday arrested a man on charge of killing mother in Noorabad near Burhan.
Sub divisional Police officer DSP Raja Fayyaz Ul Haq has said that the suspect, a drug addict, shot dead his mother on Feb 3 when she refused to pay him cash for purchasing drugs. The accused managed to escape after committing the crime.
Meanwhile, the Pindigheb police on Saturday busted a gambling den and arrested five people while gambling.
Police also seized bet money, gambling tools and other items worth Rs 0.23 million after registration of a case against the accused under section 5 of Punjab Prevention of Gambling ordinance. ....

RAWALPINDI: The police have decided to approach concerned authorities to form a joint investigation team (JIT) to further probe a suspected bookie who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Unit of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday.
The resident of Shalimar View Baghbanpura Lahore was arrested when he was contacting members of his network based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the first day of the Test match between Pakistan and South Africa in Rawalpindi on Friday.
Initially, the man, identified by police as Bilal Ahmad, was handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad. After interrogating him, the FIA shifted him to the New Town police station on Saturday which led to registration of an FIR against him. ....

Mohali Police have registered a case against unidentified persons on Saturday after a printed poster announced a reward for killing Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh.
Mohali city SP informed that the poster put up on a guide map was sighted on Thursday and announced a reward of 1 million dollars for killing the Punjab CM, ANI reported.
FIR has been registered under Sections 504, 506 and 120B of IPC and Sections 3, 4, 5 of Punjab Prevention of Defacement Property Ordinance Act, 1997, Mohali City SP reportedly said.
A senior police official said that the investigation was on in the case after FIR was registered and the accused would be nabbed soon. Police is scanning the CCTV footage from the area to nap the culprit, a report in the Tribune said. ....

Mohali (Punjab) [India], January 2 (ANI): Mohali Police have registered a case against unidentified persons for putting up a printed poster on a guide map, announcing a reward of USD 1 million for killing Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, said Mohali City Superintendent of Police (SP).
The poster was sighted on December 31.
FIR has been registered under Sections 504, 506 & 120B of IPC and Sections 3, 4, 5 of Punjab Prevention of Defacement Property Ordinance Act, 1997, the SP added. (ANI) ....
