Hornish named wrestler of the year Tuesday, April 6, 2021 1:56 PM Jarrett Hornish, Wayne Traces 126 lbs wrestler, on the champion podium at Ohio State High School State Wrestling Meet. HAVILAND – After claiming the second individual wrestling state championship in school history, Wayne Trace’s Jarrett Hornish was voted the Paulding County Wrestler of the Year in voting by the county coaches recently. Hornish tied the school record for most pins in a season with 34 and was a Green Meadows Conference champion as well for the red, white and blue. “He is one of the hardest working kids I have had,” stated Raider head coach George Clemens. “He just had a tremendous season.” ....
Holden excited to take over at Wayne Trace Wednesday, March 17, 2021 12:09 PM By KEVIN WANNEMACHER DHI Media Sports Writer HAVILAND – Wayne Trace’s football program will be under the direction of a new face in 2021 but not one that is unfamiliar with the area as former Crestview defensive coordinator Matt Holden takes over the reins of the Raider program for the coming season. Holden, who was the defensive coordinator the last four seasons for the Knights under then head coach Jared Owens, says the similarities of the two schools was a big factor in making the move to Paulding County. “The two school districts are very, very similar in a lot of ways,” noted Holden. “They both have hard working kids that have enjoyed a lot of success in athletics and the communities that make up the school districts are very similar as well. I think that was one of the biggest factors and I am excited to start working with and interacting with the play ....

Raiders cruise to win in final GMC trip to Holgate Monday, February 15, 2021 4:07 PM By KEVIN WANNEMACHER DHI Media sports writer HOLGATE – It was the final time for a Green Meadows Conference road trip to Holgate for the Wayne Trace boys basketball team and the Raiders made sure to close it out in style. The red, white and blue scored 26 first quarter points and were never threatened in rolling to a 61-36 win over Holgate at the ‘Tiger Cage’ Friday evening. The Raiders never trailed in the contest, turning a 2-2 tie into a 12-2 lead behind treys from Kyle Stoller and Brooks Laukhuf along with baskets by Laukhuf and Cameron Graham. ....
