Over 100 Hungarian Olympians Did Not Request Vaccination Despite Priority Even though the Hungarian government announced in January that athletes would be given priority to get a coronavirus vaccination, it turns out that more than 100 athletes, 12 percent of those entitled, did not even ask for the vaccination. The Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) turned to the government in mid-January to give priority order to athletes who have a chance to qualify for the next Summer or Winter Olympic Games to be vaccinated. Not long after, the Orbán government provided this priority for 868 athletes. The first round of the Olympians’ vaccination program has been completed, during which 665 athletes received the vaccination against the coronavirus – writes hvg.hu. Orbán Congratulates IOC President on Re-Election Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has congratulated International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach on his re-election, the PM’s press chief said on Friday. Preparations for the Olympics are now more complex than ever, as the world is “rooting” for its success, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Tuesday after meeting Tamayo Murakawa, Japan’s minister in charge of the Olympics. “There are 136 days until what will hopefully be the opening ceremony,” he said in a video posted on Facebook. Preparations for the participation of Hungarian athletes have been made and the embassy’s staff will be increased during the Games, he said. Six Japanese cities will be hosting Hungarian athletes in the run-up to the event, and Hungarian sportspeople in eleven sports will train in-situ, he said. ....
