The most anticipated outcome of the 2021 Spring Hill Election was which candidate would take the seat in Ward 3, the only contested race, over the next four years.
The winner, after all the votes were tallied Thursday at City Hall, went to incumbent Kevin Gavigan, who received 1,477 votes over competitors Brent Murray, who garnered 439 votes, and Angela Privett, who drew 910 votes.
Gavigan s platform, which he said goes back to his first term in 2015, has been about staying focused on getting the city s major road and infrastructure projects completed, including the upcoming Interstate 65 interchange at Buckner Road, as well as road widenings at Buckner Road and Buckner Lane.

With the Spring Hill City Election just a few days away, Ward 3 is the only opposed alderman race, drawing three candidates.
Incumbent Kevin Gavigan faces challengers business leader Brent Murray and entrepreneur Angela Privett, both newcomers to Spring Hill.
Each candidate has a vision of managing growth, tackling road improvements and leading the city into a prosperous four years. All express concerns about insufficient infrastructure, limited water/sewer capacity, a lack of green space and the need to retain a new city administrator.
Candidates shared their thoughts about how they would address these pertinent issues and others facing Spring Hill.

At least two new projects could be added to the Spring Hill Neighborhood Sidewalk and Greenway Plan as part of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen s upcoming 2021-2022 fiscal budget.
Spring Hill Senior Project Manager Missy Stahl presented the proposed projects on Monday during BOMA s non-voting work session. The projects include pathways to be installed at the Winter Park and Spring Meadow subdivisions, which would cost approximately $158,900.
The projects are also staff-identified items, meaning the funding wouldn t require any additional revenue spending from the neighborhoods Home Owners Association. Although the final numbers slightly exceed the city s $150,000 sidewalk project budget, Stahl said the city s Transportation Advisory Committee recommends it be increased to cover the full $158,900 amount.
