This is a challenging forecast. Because every time I turn to look at model guidance, something changes dramatically from the day before. I think we’re getting a clearer look at the upcoming weekend, as several weak storm systems pass through New Jersey. (Key word: weak.) Given the shaky confidence, let me summarize the weather forecast with three simple statements: 1.) The only day your outdoor plans are in serious jeopardy is Saturday, with a few waves of showers and thunderstorms expected. 2.) The only day with below-normal temperatures looks to be Monday. 3.) Humidity returns for Saturday and Sunday only. Get our free mobile app ....
NJ weather this week: From warm to practically hot, mainly dry Do you like warm temperatures and low humidity? Then you’re going to love this week’s forecast, with 80s (at least) on the way. We do have to keep fire danger and spiralling drought conditions in mind, as we look ahead to mainly dry, warming weather. Our next chance of soaking rain probably won’t show up until next weekend, at the earliest. Get our free mobile app Monday Temperatures will be very similar to Sunday, with a brighter sky and lower rain chances. We’re kicking off the new workweek with temperatures in the 40s. On the edge of “jacket weather,” especially since thermometers will shoot up quickly around 8-9 a.m. We’ll top out in the lower to mid 70s Monday afternoon, as early sunshine leads to clouds building later. That’s very close to normal for mid-May. ....
Thursday NJ weather: Spectacular spring weather continues This is a ‘Goldilocks’ forecast. Not too warm. Not too cold. Just right! Temperatures finally return to normal mid-May levels over the next few days, primarily in the 70s. Sunshine will continue to dominate the sky, with high pollen, few clouds, and dry air. We do have to talk about some shower chances in the coming days. But on Friday, it’s hardly worth mentioning given the dry air. Saturday’s stray raindrops don’t merit changing your plans just yet. Admittedly, I’m getting a bit nervous about wet weather invading the Garden State late Sunday into Monday. ....
The Bottom Line I love what I see over the next 4 or 5 days! After a stretch of cooler-than-normal weather, we’ll warm into the sweet, seasonable 70s by the weekend. With plenty of sunshine and light winds along the way. The chance for a shower this weekend is not zero. But it’s close. Wednesday Normal high temperatures have now bumped to 72 degrees. We’ll end up about 5 degrees shy of that mark on Wednesday. But really, at this point, who cares! It’s going to be a nice spring day. A storm system will deliver rain to Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas Wednesday. I believe it’s far enough south - and our atmosphere is dry enough - to miss out on substantial raindrops here in New Jersey. However, some extra clouds are inevitable along the southern coast, especially Wednesday morning. ....
