MBC looks at WHATS'ON to manage on-demand, linear assets | Infrastructure | News

The largest and leading media company in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, MBC Group, has replaced its existing broadcast management systems with WHATS’ON by Mediagenix to manage all of its on-demand services and linear channels in a unified process.
MBC Group is home to over 20 leading TV channels covering the region and beyond with leading audience shares, as well as MBC Studios, which specialises in producing the region’s most compelling premium content for cinema, television and on-demand platforms. BritBox to launch in South Africa in 2021

In the latest expansion of the BBC Studios and ITV joint venture ad-free subscription video-on-demand service around the globe, South Africa will be the fifth global territory for BritBox.
The SVOD service will launch in the African continent’s key market in the second half of 2021 and follows successful launches in the US and Canada, the UK and, most recently, Australia. BritBox first launched in North America in March 2017, and announced it had surpassed 1.5 million subscribers in October 2020. In the UK, BritBox launched in November 2019, followed by Australia in November 2020.
Its introduction is part of a global roll out plan announced last year by BritBox which will see the platform active in up to 25 new countries, bringing audiences what is claimed to be an unrivalled collection of great British TV shows and the very best in British box sets, drama premieres and live events The collection includes brand new and recent programme ....

VOO taps ContentWise to upgrade TV offer

As it launches a new user experience (UX) across its linear pay-TV and multiscreen VOD services, leading Belgian quadruple play provider VOO has turned to ContentWise to implement digital experience automation and personalisation software.
VOO TV services include 70+ local and international channels, a catalogue of over 1,500 VOD titles, premium live and on-demand sports content, and specialised family and music bundles, all delivered on STB, OTT and mobile platforms.
With the new VOO TV+, the operator says that it has redesigned entirely its entertainment platform to respond to its clients’ needs. It claims the new service offers a new way of watching television based on a 100% personalised, multiscreen and mobile approach. VOO TV+ aims to create a one-to-one and personalised relationship with its customers, with a particular focus on enhancing user experience, simplifying customers’ access to content and boosting viewer engagement. ....

Extreme E confirms RTBF as its Belgian broadcaster

With the electric off-road racing championship just weeks away, Extreme E has confirmed Radio Télévision Belge Francophone (RTBF), the public broadcasting organisation of the French Community of Belgium, as the latest addition to its broadcasting portfolio.
Extreme E is a new racing series, featuring electric SUVs competing in extreme environments around the world and is geared towards highlighting the impact of climate change and human interference in some of the most remote parts of the world.
With the series, Extreme E aims to highlight the climate emergency that is affecting the whole world. By visiting these five destinations in 2021 – Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland, Brazil and Patagonia – which have all been affected by the climate crisis, and the racing series will attempt to show the devastation caused by environmental issues, and encourage change, whilst leaving behind a long-lasting positive impact through its Legacy P ....
