Placing three players in double figures and seven different Switzerland County team members scoring in the game, the Pacers jumped out to an early lead and then never looked back in earning a big, 55-21 victory over the Hilltoppers. The first quarter saw Switzerland County get off to an 11-3 advantage, thanks to the early hot shooting of Ben Hicks and Jacob Williams, each of whom had two field goals for four points. ....
- Advertisement - The Switzerland County Pacers got 13 points from junior guard Bryce Wrightsman on Saturday night, but it wasn’t enough to hold off visiting Henryville, and the Hornets left town with a 56-32 victory. Henryville jumped out to a quick 15-7 lead at the end of the first period; and then stretched their lead a bit more with a 10-6 second stanza to send the teams to the halftime break with the Pacers trailing by a 25-13 count. - Advertisement - It’s been a tough year for coach Travis Wrightsman’s Switzerland County Pacer varsity basketball team, and the squad’s string of tough luck continued last Saturday afternoon in a tough loss to Rising Sun. Holding a lead for three quarters, the Pacers went into the final period with a 10-point lead, 36-26 but couldn’t hold it, and fell by a final score of 48-44. The Pacers came out hot, with Nate Geyman opening the scoring with a three-pointer and Mason Covington followed that with an inside bucket for the 5-0 early lead. Chris Bowne got Rising Sun on the board with a three-pointer, but the Pacers responded with two freethrows and a three-pointer by Ben Hicks to stretch the lead to seven. ....
- Advertisement - The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity basketball team took to the court last Thursday, February 4th, with a home game against Clarksville. The game was designated as Senior Night, and prior to the beginning of the contest, seniors Zach Stout, Nate Geyman, and Mason Covington were honored. The game itself got out of control early, as Clarksville opened up an 18-5 lead after the first period, but Switzerland County battled the entire way. In that first quarter, Switzerland County got baskets from Stout and Ben Hicks, and Bryce Wrightsman also added a freethrow. The Generals got early scoring from Jaren Starks and Dakota Capps, each of whom posted seven points in the opening stanza. ....
Wrightsman earns All Tourney nod Switzerland County junior Bryce Wrightsman connected for 18 points in Saturday’s Rivertown Classic consolation game with Lawrenceburg, but it wasn’t enough as the Pacers fell in another heartbreaker by a final score of 50-41. Both teams got out to a fast start, with the Pacers scoring 12 first period points while the Tigers notched 15. The close play continued into the second stanza, as both teams accounted for eight points, which gave Lawrenceburg an narrow, 23-20 edge heading into the halftime break. The third period was again a close one, but the Tigers kept managing to ease out to slight advantages over the eight minute spans 11-7 in the third which was just enough to keep Switzerland County on the chase. ....
