Police were investigating a shooting that left one dead and injured three others in Hollywood on May 9.
LOS ANGELES - An investigation was underway in Hollywood after one person was killed and three others were injured when shots rang out during a Mother s Day gathering on Sunday night, officials said.
Around 10:15 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers were patrolling the area when they heard gunshots. They followed the sound to a home located near the intersection of Fountain Avenue and North Gower Street where they found between 30 to 40 people in the middle of the street. ....

A new studio is coming to Hollywood to fill sound-stage need

Although the pandemic emptied white-collar offices, sound stages have been a hot ticket as entertainment production keeps rising.
Against that backdrop, plans have been filed with the city for a complex called Echelon Studios, which could help meet growing demand for facilities as the industry starts to ease COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Once production is back to full speed, companies are expected to ramp up to satisfy the need for content in theaters and on new streaming services.
Soundstages “have been in short supply for a long time,” real estate developer David Simon said. “Occupancy has been at 95%-plus for the last five or six years, and looking forward we don’t see a letup in demand.” ....

Public Input Wanted For Eastside Communities Plan

WEST HOLLYWOOD The city of West Hollywood is asking residents, businesses, and stakeholders to provide public input as the city works to prioritize the remaining recommendations of the Eastside Community Priorities Plan. Adopted by the City Council in October 2017, the plan identified and prioritized improvements to be implemented in the Eastside neighborhood of the City (east of N. Hayworth Avenue) during the next few years.
According to a news release from the city of West Hollywood’s website, the Eastside Community Priorities Plan is a community priorities document with distinct policy recommendations in the following topic areas: Urban Design; Economic Development; Housing; Mobility; Arts and Events; Sustainability and Public Spaces; and Public Safety. The Eastside Community Priorities Plan received the American Planning Association Los Angeles Neighborhood Planning award in 2018. Water Main Line On Detroit Street Being Replaced

WEST HOLLYWOOD The city of West Hollywood disclosed in a press release that the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP) will be replacing 1,300 feet of water main line on Detroit Street between Santa Monica Boulevard and Fountain Avenue, including lateral connections from the main line to the domestic meters. The project started on April 26 and is expected to be completed in approximately 5 months. Advanced notice about the water main line work was hand delivered to all properties surrounding the construction area by LADWP.
Working hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. No work will be done on weekends and holidays and residents will have a full access to on-street parking spaces. No water will be shut off after working hours. ....
