Prayagraj: With panchayat elections round the corner and demand for ‘Munger’ pistols shooting up, law enforcement agencies have oiled up their network to tighten the noose around delivery men sneaking in Bihar-made weapons into UP towns. The arrest of a key delivery man identified as Guddu Kumar from Sitakund (Munger) in Prayagraj three days back has proved to be a shot in the arm for the special task force (STF) sleuths, who have been probing the network and modus operandi of Bihar gunrunners. Officials claimed that jailed racketeer Prem Kumar Singh, who was arrested by UP STF in March 2017 along with 11 fine-shaped pistols, has a wide network among criminals in east and west UP towns for supplying illegal weapons from Munger known for manufacture and supply of illegal firearms for years.

Representative image PRAYAGRAJ: Sleuths of Special Task Force (Prayagraj unit) on Sunday busted a cheating racket during Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) New Delhi and arrested seven members including four teachers and one solvers\ proxy candidate from two separate spots including Prayagraj and Gorakhpur districts. While six racketeers were arrested near Colonelganj area in Prayagraj, another was held in Gorakhpur. Some parents who have defaulted on payments have even complained that the schools are not allowing their children to attend online classes and are apprehensive of whether they would be allowed to attend the final exams scheduled a few months from now. Although the UP government has asked schools to roll back fees, they have been taking a “composite fee”, which includes charges for tuitions and a few other activities. A section of parents has expressed inability to pay the reduced amount too. The schools, however, have argued that they need to charge some part of the fee so that they can pay salary to their staff and cover other maintenance charges.

The district inspector of schools (DIOS) in Gautam Budh Nagar notified all schools on Tuesday that they will have to combine the two shifts of three hours, currently being held for classes 9-12, as one class of five hours, following an order by the state education department. Ghaziabad will issue the letter to its schools by Wednesday, the district education officials said.

The pre-board exam would be conducted till January 25, 2021, for class 10 and class 12 across the state. Around 56 lakh students are expected to appear for the pre-board exams and then for the board exams. According to Neeraj Kumar Pandey, the district school inspector said that the subject-wise pre-board date sheet would be released by the concerned schools.
