SHC seeks commissioner’s plan to fix milk rates Questions administration s capacity to ensure compliance on official prices KARACHI: The Sindh High Court sought on Friday a plan from the Karachi commissioner regarding the fixing of official milk prices in a plea pertaining to increasing rates. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, was hearing the plea. The court asked who had appeared on behalf of the Karachi commissioner. The representative informed the court that Karachi additional commissioner is attending another court hearing. The bench inquired from the representative that what has been done practically to control the milk prices, on which the representative moved the application to adjourn the hearing for a short while. ....

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, directed the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government to establish old age homes in every district of Karachi, ensure the provision of Azadi Cards to senior citizens - so they may avail the benefits and privileges as provided under the law - within a month. This is the only way cases can be reduced, Justice Muhammad Ali Sahito said while hearing the case on the vaccination and population control of stray dogs in Sindh. The two-member bench was irked at the Sindh municipal secretary who appeared in court. “The number of dog bite cases has risen out of control,” Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said. ....
