The provincial government earned the court s ire on Wednesday over its failure to implement the Sindh Senior Citizens Welfare Act 2014, which was enacted into law in 2016.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, directed the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government to establish old age homes in every district of Karachi, ensure the provision of Azadi Cards to senior citizens - so they may avail the benefits and privileges as provided under the law - within a month. Justice Mazhar observed that laws are made but there is no implementation. ....

6,366 officials of Sindh police have contracted coronavirus so far.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government has on Thursday decided to administer COVID-19 vaccination to all police officers aged fifty and above and ordered to start the registration process.
The district health officers have been directed to establish special desks in the vaccination centers. The vaccination will be administered to the field force as well as the office staff.
AIG of the Sindh Social Welfare Department has penned letter to all district and Rangers officers. It is pertinent here to mention that 6,366 officials of the Sindh police have contracted coronavirus so far. ....

Plea accuses welfare organisations of abuse, marriages of orphans in shelter homes
The Sindh High Court has summoned the Sindh Child Protection Authority chairperson, women development department s Hyderabad deputy director, Karachi AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon, and the Investigation DIG in personal capacity over a plea pertaining abuse and marriage of orphan girls in custody.
A single bench of the high court, comprising Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, heard the plea implicating shelter homes run by the Edhi Foundation and others on Monday.
The petitioner s counsel alleged that the administration of Edhi Welfare Organisation tells people to take the body of a dead child when they are approached for child adoption but never hands over a living child. There are many people who want to adopt children and are capable of providing a better upbringing, argued the counsel. ....
