Dear Lord, do I have to? Tottenham Hotspur went to the Emirates with a chance to go ten points clear of tenth place Arsenal and stake a claim on maaaaaaaybe sneaking into fourth place, and instead laid an egg, losing 2-1 to a Martin Odegaard blast and a (controversial?) penalty converted by Alexandre Lacazette.
I hate doing player ratings after a loss when we play bad, especially themed ones. And this season in particular, with matches coming fast, finding good themes has been a grind. This time, inspiration simply did not land, and I’ve gotta get this article on the blog before people yell at me.
Fulham 0-1 Tottenham: Player ratings to the theme of core M&M colors

Here’s a secret: I hate midweek league matches. The Premier League grind is already bad enough what with midweek cup and European cup matches, but there’s just no great way to do a Premier League match coverage justice when you only have three days in-between games. Especially when the matches end up pretty blah affairs like this one was. Yes, Tottenham Hotspur won over Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage, and I know a win’s a win but this match was at times pretty painful to watch.
Manchester City 3-0 Tottenham: Player ratings to the theme of Spurs v. City Moments

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have played a whole bunch of games against each other since they both got semi-good to very good. Very few of them have been boring. It hasn’t always been a slugfest both Spurs and City have had some equally thumping wins, and if you’re doing a running tally it’s safe to say that City has been on paper better that Spurs for the majority of the past decade or so. Oil money will do that to a club.

Today’s player ratings do not have a theme. Why, you ask? Because these things take a lot more time than you probably realize, there’s the Liverpool match tomorrow, I’m having a busy week at the day job, and this website is free. Sue me.

4 stars:
Harry Kane (Community 3.5): Disappeared along with everyone else in the second half, but took his goal very well. That wasn’t easy and was as much his shot as Guaita’s mistake.
Toby Alderweireld (Community 3.5): Solid at the back again (5 tackles!), and it looks like he’s regained his previous form after a spell on the bench early in the season.
