May 8 The McCall City Council on Thursday lifted the mask mandate that was in effect inside city limits.
The order was expected to expire May 26, but city leaders approved a series of four metrics to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in the area at an April 22 meeting. When three of the four metrics are met, the council can consider terminating the order.
With three of the four metrics satisfied as of Thursday, the council chose to remove the mandate. The four mandates are: biweekly case rates remain in the green zone for four weeks; Valley County vaccine uptake for 16+ years of age reaches at least 65%; Valley County test positivity percentage remains below 5%; at least one dose of vaccine for 65+ across the Central District Health region reaches 75%.

Apr. 24 The downward trend in Idaho s COVID-19 caseload continued on Friday, with the state recording 190 new cases, the lowest daily addition since March 6, according to updated data from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
The state s seven-day moving average of new cases fell to 202. A month ago, that average was 302.
The bulk of new cases Friday were added in Ada (61 new, 51,078 total), Canyon (19 new, 26,240 total), Elmore (17 new, 1,952 total) and Kootenai (19 new, 17,603 total) counties. Still, in Ada County, the seven-day moving average fell to 70.6, down from 105.4 on April 12.

Idahoâs health districts and the Department of Health and Welfare reported just 233 new confirmed coronavirus cases Friday, continuing a weeks-long decline. With 111 new probable cases, the combined total came in at 344.
Hospitalizations of people with COVID-19 are markedly lower than numbers from the past few months, January included, when Idahoâs recovery took hold. Approximately 180 people were hospitalized across the state with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 on Wednesday, the most recent day that data was available from the Department of Health and Welfare. The number of Idahoans hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped again to 252 on Wednesday the fewest people hospitalized since Oct. 20. There were 67 people hospitalized in intensive care units Wednesday, the last day the data was available.

Jan. 16 Despite news that states won t be receiving a promised release of second vaccine doses, Idaho health officials said the state will start receiving a slight increase in the overall number of doses from the federal government next week.
Idaho will begin receiving about 950 extra doses starting next week, state health officials said, for a total of 20,950 doses each week for the forseeable future. That s about a 2%-5% increase. Along with other states, Idaho is requesting more accurate, timely, and forward-looking estimates of doses Idaho will receive from the federal government, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare spokesperson Niki Forbing-Orr wrote in a Friday email statement.
