The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 entering the bottom 4th, Ike Speltz tied the game with a shot over the left field fence and that ignited the Bulldogs. They scored two more runs in the 4th, then blew the game open with a 6-run 6th inning. Jack Pettitt was the Bulldogs MVP, pitching a complete game and going 4-4 at the plate with a triple and 4 RBI. RALEIGH, NC â The Vance Cougars knocked out Rolesville 35-14 to win their second straight State Championship. Austin Grier threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cougars and grab the gameâs Most Valuable Player honors.
Grier sealed his MVP award with a pair of third quarter touchdown passes, both to Asuani Allen to push the Vance lead out to 35-14 with 3:03 to go in the third quarter, before the Vance offense watched their crushing defense bring things home in the fourth.
