Former Cedar Hill Coach Woods Is Proud to Be Coach Lynnâs Mentor
Cedar Hill Plays for 5th State Championship This Weekend
(CEDAR HILL, TEXAS) Itâs a quiet morning in Whitney, Texas â a community so small that the entire population could fit into Longhorn Stadium.
Retired football coach Robert Woods calls Whitney â 64 miles southwest of Cedar Hill â home. Heâll go for relaxing walks, play a round of golf or admire the views of scenic Lake Whitney.
Although heâs been retired for approximately 15 years, the 69-year-old Woods sometimes reflects upon the success that two assistants that he hired at Cedar Hill have achieved with the Longhorn Football Program.
Cedar Hill Kicker, Jadon Cardell, Is Prepared For Championship Moment
(CEDAR HILL, TEXAS) Jadon Cardell runs the scenario through his mind on a regular basis.
The Longhorns are tied, or trailing by a point or two, and it’s fourth down at the homefield of the Dallas Cowboys.
There are five seconds or less in the game, and the only thing standing between the Cedar Hill High School Football Team’s fourth state championship is a field goal sailing through the uprights.
“I embrace it,” said Cardell, a senior kicker/punter. “I definitely think about it every game, how this may be the game where I’m put in the situation to win it. The pressure is there, but I try to block out the pressure and focus on making the field goal.”
